DNA from endosperm

I've used the Nucleon Phytopure kit (available form Amersham Pharmacia
Biotech in the UK) on dried rice grain and got reasnable DNA from it.
Its fairly straightforward to use, especially if you have alot of
samples, although the DNAI got out was quite short, but as I mainly
use it for microsats this doesn't bother me. It's probably worth giving
it a go for maize. Try using a coffee grider to grind up the seed.
