Pollen microscopes

We wrote a note for the Maize Genetics Coop NewsLetter (69:113-114, 1995)
in which we identified a pocket microscope that we felt was far superior to
others we had tested for pollen classification in the field. It is a 50X
Peak Pocket Microscope from Edmund Scientific (stock number C39,117).
Unfortunately, Edmund Scientific discontinued carrying this scope shortly
after the note was published. We have also seen scopes that appear to be
the same in the Forestry Products catalog of 1996 or 1997, but we do not
know if they still carry them. We have been using these scopes for several
years and find them to be excellent scopes for pollen classification in the
field.

Sincerely,

David Weber
