Research Associate II, Plant Breeding Department, Cornell University
Work closely with the maize molecular genetics and breeding programs to
ensure success of the interspecific molecular breeding research
program. Responsible for QTL analysis and near isogenic line
development targeting specialty grain quality traits in maize and will
undertake comparative genome analysis to determine whether genes
underlying QTLs are homologous in rice and maize. Must be familiar
with lab and computational aspects of maize molecular genetics and
capable of interfacing with a strong maize breeding program.
Management skills needed to help supervise graduate students in the
maize molecular genetics lab, ensure timeliness and quality of reports,
maintain active correspondence with our collaborators, and assist with
grant preparation.
