Glutamine Synthetase

Dear All,

I am a final year PhD student at Long Ashton. I have a maize
mutant of the cytosolic
glutamine synthetase 1-4 isoform (GS1-4). There is no gross
phenotypic difference
between the homozygous mutant, the heterozygous mutant and
the wild type. Should
I expect to see a phenotype?

Also, does anyone have a genomic clone of GS1-4 so I can see
how the mutant fits
into the gene in terms of genomic structure?

Any help with either of these points would be greatly
