Post-Doc Position in Software Development and Statistics in Biological Research
/ Quantitative Genetics
The position consists in the development of methodologies and software for
marker-assisted breeding, and statistical analyses of biological trial data in
general. The position is part of a group of currently three statisticians, who
provide statistical support for Novartis Seeds, Novartis Animal Health, and for
Toxicology within Novartis Crop Protection. Directions in the development of
methodologies and software will be established in close collaboration with
marker-assisted breeding scientists from Novartis Seeds and based on work
already accomplished in Basel. This position could evolve on the long term to
become a pillar of Novartis Seeds genetic software development in breeding- and
marker-related areas, and be located at one of Novartis Seeds marker sites.
Requirements:
PhD in statistics, quantitative genetics or equivalent
Good knowledge of at least one statistical package, preferably Splus or SAS
Knowledge of Fortran
Languages: English, German and / or French desirable
Workplace:
Basel (Switzerland), with extensive collaboration with / stays in Toulouse
(France)
Duration:
Two years
Possible extension after the two-year term within Novartis Seeds at a
site to be
determined (to be decided at the end of the two-year term)
