Research Associate/Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position in
bioinformatics is immediately available to construct a public
physical map of the maize genome. You will lead an experienced team
of fingerprinting technicians to generate and assemble over 400,000
HindIII fingerprints derived from two newly constructed NSF funded
BAC libraries of B73. Research will be conducted at the Clemson
University Genomics Institute (CUGI) (http://www.genome.clemson.edu/)
in cooperation with the NSF funded Missouri Maize Project and the
University of Georgia Sorghum Project where the BAC libraries are
being anchored to the maize, rice and sorghum genetic and physical
maps. The successful applicant must be highly motivated and organized
and have experience in physical map construction using FPC and UNIX
based operating systems. Candidates with a background in maize
