Thank you for the responses to my query regarding increased map distances
after introgression! In answer to Ed's questions;
both "genes of interest" are both morphological phenotypes- not scored
molecularly. The hope was that hets could be distinquished from homs by a
closely linked SSR. One mutant is EMS induced, one is spontaneous. I
think they should first check whether the map distance is changing in other
inbreds.
