A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study molecular
mechanisms of shoot apical meristem function at the USDA/UC Berkeley
Plant Gene Expression Center in Albany, CA. Work in the Fletcher lab
focuses on understanding how cell proliferation is controlled in shoot
apical meristems by the CLAVATA ligand-receptor kinase signal
transduction pathway (see Current Opinion in Plant Biology 2000,
3:23-30). The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting
genetic and molecular analyses of CLV-like genes in maize and rice.
Candidates should have a strong background in genetics/molecular
biology. The appointment is for three years, and preference will be
given to candidates with the potential to obtain independent funding.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Applicants should send a c.v., a description of their research
experience, and the names and addresses of three references to Dr.
Jennifer Fletcher, Plant Gene Expression Center, 800 Buchanan Street,
Albany, CA 94710, or by email to jfletcher at pgec.ars.usda.gov
