Faculty Positions in Biochemistry and Developmental Genetics at the
University at Albany, State University of New York
As part of a University wide expansion in the Life Sciences, the
Department of Biological Sciences (http://www.albany.edu/biology)
invites applications for two tenure track positions at the assistant
or associate professor level. One position will be in the Physical
Biochemistry of Biomolecules to build on the themes of structural
genomics/proteomics, biomolecular structure/function and
interactions, mechanistic enzymology, and nucleic acid chemistry and
function. The other position will be in Developmental Genetics to
complement faculty working on pattern formation, cellular
differentiation, growth factors, gene regulation and neural
development. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an
externally funded research program and participate in graduate and
undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to those applicants
whose research contributes to the University's initiatives in
comparative functional genomics and proteomics.
Available facilities include a biological imaging facility and the
University's Center for Comparative Functional Genomics
(www.albany.edu/genomics), which houses one of four NIH funded,
Mutant Mouse Resource Centers and offers state of the art core
facilities for transgenic mice, DNA microarrays, molecular biology,
bioinformatics, and biochemical/biophysical instrumentation. In
addition, construction of a new 160,000 sq ft Life Sciences research
building will begin in 2001.
