RESEARCH ASSISTANT NEEDED
North Carolina State University is seeking highly qualified
applicants to join a team of researchers working on an NSF-funded
project to improve transformation technology for maize. This is a
research support position. Primary functions will include plant
cultivation, initiating and maintaining organ and tissue cultures,
and analysis of gene expression using cell biological and molecular
techniques. Additional duties may include assisting with plasmid
construction, DNA and RNA isolation, or protein analysis. A BS or MS
degree in biology (or the equivalent experience) is required.
Practical experience with aseptic technique is essential. A working
knowledge of plant development, microtechnique, or transformation is
highly desirable. The successful applicant will also be able to
manage time, maintain accurate laboratory records, and solve problems
at the technical level. Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. A starting date of
October 1, 2001 is preferred, but negotiable.
