PLANT SCIENCES UNIT/MAIZE MAPPING PROJECT

RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/PROJECT DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maize Mapping Project (MMP) at the University of Missouri is 
producing physical, genetic, and bioinformatics resources for maize 
in partnership with Clemson University and the University of Georgia. 
The scientist in this non-tenure track position participates in 
genetic and physical mapping of the maize genome and ensures 
productivity and efficiency in MMP.  Specifically, conducts mapping 
research; maintains detailed understanding of all scientific aspects 
of the project; coordinates among participants, both on-campus and at 
collaborating sites; and responds to inquiries or requests from 
government agencies, University offices, visitors, and the press.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified individuals are expected to have extensive experience and 
skills in high-throughput maize genomics research and molecular 
biology; excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience 
to monitor progress of projects; write grants and reports; devise 
presentation materials; manage budgets; and handle recruitment and 
personnel matters.

SALARY/COMPENSATION:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
