and field molecular genetics experiments (to include DNA/RNA extractions,
PCR, cloning, DNA sequencing, etc.). Duties will include carrying out all
protocols related to assigned project tasks, collecting and analyzing
experimental data, ordering materials and supplies for laboratory use,
maintaining lab computer databases and inventory, preparing media,
reagents, buffers and solutions, and assisting in the coordination of daily
lab operations  (general lab and data management, supervise students,
monitor lab operations, maintain lab equipment).

Bachelor's degree or higher with experience in a biology (or related)
laboratory (beyond coursework) . Experience in molecular biology techniques
and basic computer skills required, experience in genetics preferred.  Good
practical and theoretical knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as
Southern, Western, and Northern blotting; quantitative PCR; subcloning;
screening genomic and cDNA libraries; overexpression of proteins in
bacteria; plasmid purification. Ability to abstract protocols from
published articles and to modify existing protocols as needed.  Good
working knowledge of molecular biology software as well as MS Word, Excel,
etc. Effective written and oral communication. Ability to work with
intermittent supervision. Ability to work with a large number of diverse
individuals in a dynamic atmosphere (students, visiting faculty,
collaborators). Good organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
are preferred. Ability to organize and prioritize the workload requirements.

Salary commensurate with qualifications, $25,000 minimum
