DUTIES: The incumbent serves as applications software and data base
manager for the USDA/ARS Maize Genetics Cooperation - Stock Center.
Establishes and operates a unified, computer-based system of
acquiring, managing, utilizing, and distributing data for and about
the Stock Center's collection; curates maize genetic stock data on
Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN) database and the Maize
Genome Database (MaizeDB); develops links between GRIN, MaizeDB
database and other systems; improves and develops database
applications for efficient seed request processing and record keeping
and for producing field books; establishes a data acquisition and
management system to track seed inventories and pedigrees; compiles
and prepares data for presentation on the world wide web; and assists
in research associated with the maize genetic stocks collection.
