BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN (PLANTS). The U.S. Department of
Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plant Genetics
Research Unit, on campus at the University of Missouri-Columbia, is
seeking a permanent full-time, technician, level GS-0404-05, 6, 7, or 8
(salary range $24,701-$44,055 per annum). The successful applicant will
participate as a team member in support of a Research Geneticist in
various phases of maize genetics research with the goal of identifying
and characterizing useful genetic variation in germplasm for important
traits. Position requires (i) knowledge of the genetics, molecular
biology, and biochemistry; (ii) skill in various laboratory procedures
such as DNA extraction, polymerase chain reaction, electrophoresis,
Southern blots, basic cloning, and biochemical analyses; and (iii)
ability to collect and summarize extensive data from various sources
utilizing various equipment and software packages, such as spreadsheets
and/or relational databases. United States citizenship is required.
