A postdoctoral position is available to work on the molecular and
developmental basis of the morphological evolution of maize and its
ancestor, teosinte. The project will involve the molecular analysis
of genes that control quantitative traits involved in maize
domestication using transgenic constructs to test specific hypotheses
about functional polymorphisms, and developmental and quantitative
analyses of the resultant transgenic lines. Applicants with
experience in molecular genetics and/or plant developmental biology
are encouraged to apply. This project is funded for five years and
the position is available January 2004. To apply, send a statement of
research interests, curriculum vitae, and the email address for three
references to John Doebley, Genetics Department, University of
Wisconsin, Madison WI 53706 (jdoebley at wisc.edu). For more information
on our laboratory, visit http://www.wisc.edu/teosinte/
