Fri Oct 31 16:43:40 EST 2003

Two positions are available at Purdue University. A POSTDOCTORAL
ASSOCIATE/PROJECT MANAGER and a TECHNICIAN are wanted immediately to
help establish and supervise a high-throughput TILLING facility [see
Ann. Rev. Plant Biol. (2003) 54:375-401] for maize at Purdue. In
collaboration with the Arabidopsis TILLING Project at Fred Hutchison
Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington in Seattle,
this is an NSF Plant Genome project using reverse genetics to identify
point mutations in target genes, and mutant maize lines that carry
them, then make these available to the maize community. The successful
candidate will lead a team of researchers whose goal is providing this
important functional genomics service. Responsibilities will range
from the TILLING lab, using state of the art robotic and DNA analysis
equipment, to the corn field (and winter nursery!) helping to develop
the mutant populations. In addition to lab expertise, communication
and leadership skills, dedication, teamwork and organization will be
highly valued. Extensive experience with molecular biology essential,
experience with high-throughput genomics a plus. Candidates should
specify which job they are applying for and send a CV and contact
information for three references to Dr. Clifford Weil, 1150 Lilly
Hall, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907-1150. Equal
Opportunity/ Affirmative Action Employer.
