Graduate Fellowship, Ph.D. Molecular Genetics of Host-Plant Resistance

A talented Ph.D. candidate is sought for an assistantship starting in
winter or summer 2004 in the Plant Sciences Unit at our Columbia
campus. An M.S. in plant genetics or a related field is preferred,
though a highly qualified B.S. with research experience will be
considered. Drs. David Willmot and Mike McMullen, will supervise a
project to investigate host resistance to the corn rootworm, a major
pest, using QTL mapping, genomic, biochemical, and entomological
approaches. The successful candidate will receive training in field,
lab, and statistical techniques. This fellowship will provide a
competitive stipend plus a tuition waiver and insurance. U.S.
