[Maize] BAC addresses

Dear Colleagues:
When you are identifying BACs in GenBank submissions or in publications,
the plate identifier, e.g., 100F14, is insufficient because it is
ambiguous between libraries (is the BAC b100F14 or c100F14 or other?).
This is a crucial distinction for tiling, for sequence, and for targeted
gene isolation, and unfortunately it is frequently overlooked.
PLEASE NOTE: the BAC library may carry the prefix b if from the
Clemson/Arizona B73/HindIII library, or c if from the CHORI B73/EcoRI
and B73/MboI libraries, or another prefix from another library. The
library identity is vital when orders are placed for BACs, and is vital
in all promulgations of data.
