Research Associate I, Research Associate II and Assistant Scientist II
This positing is for a series of positions at a range of levels
--Research Associate I, Research Associate II and Assistant Scientist
II.
Under the supervision of PI and/or lab senior personnel, the Research
Associate I will be responsible for designing and implementing
molecular biology laboratory and field experiments. The projects
involve recurring tasks on a daily basis and high throughput
protocols. Duties include: carry out and optimize protocols related
to assigned project tasks (such as PCR, electrophoresis, DNA/RNA
isolation, tissue collection, plasmid preparation, sequencing etc.),
conduct data entry and relevant Web searches, to plan an efficient
routine lab schedule to meet project deadlines, train new personnel,
order materials and supplies for laboratory use, maintain lab
computer databases and inventory, and assist the lab manager in the
coordination of daily lab operations.
In addition to above mentioned duties, the Research Associate II and
Assistant Scientist II will assume a more independent role and be
responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance and organization of
the lab, supervising and training lab personnel and acting as project
leader of research projects. The Assistant Scientist II is also
expected to conceive and contribute to manuscript and proposal
preparation, working with the PI.
