The 2011 School will address challenges in boosting corn productivity. As
outlined in the accompanying agenda, the lineup of speakers will present
talks covering the evolutionary and botanical bases of productivity,
genetics of response to increased plant population, influence of nitrogen on
interplant competition, nitrogen use efficiency, prediction of optimum
planting rates, agronomic management for maximum yields, and new
technological and scientific advances for application to corn breeding, and
hybrid vigor.
Yours truly,
G. Richard Johnson, Program Chairman, and members of the Illinois Maize
Breeding and Genetics Lab Steering Committee: Fred Below, Martin Bohn,
Stephen Moose, Rita Mumm, and Jerald Pataky
