POSITION: The School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University (http://sips.cals.cornell.edu ) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Plant Metabolic Biochemistry. Preference will be given to applicants at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional applicants at the Associate Professor level will also be considered. The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally-recognized and well-funded research program that integrates knowledge obtained using various experimental and computational approaches for a comprehensive understanding of metabolic pathways in the contexts of broader biological questions. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, characterization of metabolic pathways and their regulatory networks, and analysis of the phylogenetic diversity and evolution of metabolic pathways. Ideally, the candidate would be able to leverage technological innovation and high-resolution methods for the identification and quantification of metabolic compounds. An interest in the potential utilization of such compounds in medicinal applications or for the improvement of crop quality is desirable. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses. This position will be 60% research and 40% teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Biology, Plant Biology, Chemistry, Biophysics, or related disciplines. The candidate must be able to work in a multi‐disciplinary and multi‐cultural setting and create a collegial professional environment. Well‐qualified applicants are expected to have a demonstrated record of publication excellence, and preferred qualifications include postdoctoral experience, ability to work with a team, and ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 2017.
ACADEMIC RANK AND SALARY: Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) with salary competitive with peer institutions and commensurate with background and experience.
