The Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council
of Canada is looking to fill a postdoctoral position in the area of
biomolecular modelling. Our current areas of research interest
include conformational search and free energy calculations, the design
of protein inhibitors, homology modelling, and continuum solvation
models. This position will be focused on homology modelling and
inhibitor design. The work will be carried out in the context of a
multidisciplinary team environment with close interactions with
peptide and organic chemists, biochemists, NMR spectroscopists,
crystallographers, as well as with other molecular modellers. The
computing facilities include a network of Silicon Graphics
workstations connected to multiprocessor SGI Power Series and Power
Challenge central servers. The Institute has well-equipped laboratory
facilities with equipment such as two 500 MHz NMR spectrometers, an
X-ray area detector, an ion-spray mass spectrometer, and a surface
plasmon resonance machine. The successful candidate should have
experience in the use of molecular modelling software, preferably in
macromolecular applications, and be able to interface effectively with
biologically oriented scientists. Interested parties should send a CV
and three reference letters to the following address. (Preference
will be given to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.)
