Symposium Announcement:
A special symposium entitled "Progress in Amebiasis" will be presented
at this year's annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine
and Hygiene on November 16, 1994 in Cincinnati, Ohio. We would like to
encourage anyone interested in Amebiasis to attend. Speakers will include
C. Graham Clarke, Daniel Eichinger, Adolfo Martinez-Palomo, William Petri,
John Samuelson, Sam Stanley, and Egbert Tannich. There will also be both
oral and poster sessions on Amebiasis to which abstracts may be submitted.
These sessions will also be held on November 16. The abstract deadline is

Travel awards are available for students, postdoc and senior investigators.
To be eligible for the student and post-doc award the young investigator
must be the first author on an abstract submitted for the annual meeting
and be an undergraduate, graduate or medical student, or a postdoctoral
fellow in the first two years of study. Limited funding is also available
to support travel of selected outstanding senior investigators principally
from developing countries to participate in this year's annual meeting,
November 13-17 in Cincinnati, OH. Candidates will be selected based on
their willingness to participate in the meeting through oral or poster
presentations, research activities within the field of tropical medicine
and hygiene, and financial need. Membership in ASTMH is not required for
either award. The dealine for application is June 1, 1994. Persons interested
