Dear colleague,

As a result of a meeting sponsored by International and
Governmental agencies it was decided to set up an International
Leishmaniasis Network (ILN) on the Sun Work Station of the
Fundacao Tropical e Tecnologia "Andre Tosello", Campinas, Sao
Paulo State, Brazil which can be accessed by any GOPHER server.
It is still very much in an embryonic stage and we need peoples
opinions as to what should be included. Basic data on the
various fields of leishmaniasis, such as lists of strains,
cryobanks, research workers (fields of interest and contract
address), projects, monoclonal antibodies, sequences of specific
DNA regions and primers, epidemiology, parasites/vector
catalogue, immunology reactions related to infection -
experimental and natural, treatment, diagnosis, drug resistance,
host resistance, control (methods, countries and responsible
governmental body) etc., will either be included in the form
of databases that are resident in the Network or indications will
be given as to where you might be able to find what you are
looking for.

We also hope that discussion groups will develop for the
different areas of interest and that individuals particularly
interested in a field will volunteer to look after their area.
As a beginning and in parallel to the Network a listserver has
been established in Campinas which can be accessed through
INTERNET OR BITNET. Because of your interest in leishmaniasis I
would like to invite you on behalf of the organizers to subscribe
to the Leishmaniasis listserv.

To subscribe all you need to do is send the following email
message -

address:- listserv at bdt.ftpt.br
Subject:- (leave blank)
Message:- subscribe Leish-L <your full name>

Leave the <>brackets out when you type in your name.

Looking forward to you joining us. Your interest and comments are
vital to the success of ILN. The Listserver is a venue for
discussion and fast communication on anything to do with
leishmaniasis. Messages can be posted to Leish-L by non-
subscribers but they will not receive any answers or comments.

If you know of anybody else who would be interested could you
please pass this message onto them and send me their email
address.

Its FREE!!! You won't get a bill at the end of the month and the
only charges will be those levied by your home node (If any).

With best wishes
