In 1989 Revets et al (Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology vol36
pp209-216) described a 6.5 kilobasepair double stranded RNA molecule
associated with a 35 nanometer spherical (icosahedral?) virus-like
particle in Eimeria stiedae. Similar dsRNA molecules were also found
in E. necatrix and E. maxima (Ellis and Revets 1990 Parasitology
vol 101 pp163-169). There may be more recent work I am not familiar
with.
