I enquired of the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre - Ontario
division for the list of most likely diagnoses for this syndrome. The
most likely neurological disease to affect populations of
squirrels that have been diagnosed here (Guelph is 30 min by car from
Waterloo) is
Baylisascaris larval migrans. Rabies is a very rare and distant
differential diagnosis in this species.
