I have 3 dogs. A new one which is isolated from the others has been
diagnosed with hookworm and is on panacure. I need info on the life
cycle of the canid hookworm. All the parasit books I checked have
caused some confusion. On the one hand dessication is said to kill them
where as it says rain also kills them after they are wetted and dried out.
Can some hookworm expert explain their survival/life history outside the body
of the animal in plain English?
Thank you. My vet wasnt too helpful with respect to its survival patterns in
my yard which is used by all three dogs but at separate times.
I am concerned whether or not the unaffected dogs will become infected
merely by using the same "lawn" as the infected animal.
