A candidate is sought for application to the EU Training and Mobility
of Researchers programme in the field of molecular parasitology. The
proposed project concerns the cyclophilins (cyclosporin binding proteins)
of the human malarial parasite Plasmodium falciparum and their possible
roles in pathogenesis and the action of antimalarial agents. Training
in certain molecular and biochemical techniques and cell culture of the
parasite is available. The candidate should possess of expect a PhD in
Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related subject, or have equivalent
experience. He/she should be a citizen of an EU/EFTA country other than
Ireland, and should be competent in one of English, French or German.
The department of Microbiology at Trinity College is home to ten research
groups and attracts international funding. The 400-year old university
campus is situated in the heart of Dublin. If successful, the position
would probably be of two years duration.
