Giardia,B.hominis, other protozoan parasites

Several authors talk of "Maladsorption" from giardiasis do you know if
this has any relationship (theoretical or real) to the development of
pernicious anaemia in long term sufferers.  

Any thoughts replies etc would be welcomed.
