G'day all,
I'm looking for information on the hydatid tapeworm transmissable from
sheep offal to dogs and then to humans. Despite a fairly extensive
search, I've been unable to unearth much. Apparently this parasite is
common in places such as the Australian New South Wales tablelands where
it can be picked up by dogs allowed to feed on sheep offal. Specifically,
I'm after information on how it infects dogs and other hosts, symptoms of
infection, how it is transmitted to humans, and symptoms of infection in
humans. Also, any information human/animal mortality and available
treatments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael
