I haven't followed this thread back to the beginning, so just in case it
hasn't been mentioned, prevention of ascarid egg contamination is
extremely important. Talk to your veterinarian about routine dewormings of
puppies and kittens (a primary source of ascarid eggs), heart worm
preventative for dogs (using a preventitive that prevents ascarids - get
one that prevents hookworms too), and regular fecal checks for cats. As is
rather obvious from this discussion, prevention is the only way to go!
