Postdoctoral or Graduate Research Assistantship
This post is funded under an EEC TMR Network (see below).
Area of Research: The generation and maintenance of body shape in the
free living
nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
We are currently investigating several new mutants with severe
developmental defects isolated in
our lab, defective in aspects of C.elegans ectodermal function. These
mutations have been
genetically mapped to facilitate cloning. Research will include gene
cloning which will utilise data
derived from the now complete sequence of the C.elegans genome, plus
investigation of function
of cloned genes and phenotypic
characterisation of mutants. Training in the post genomic C.elegans
research can be given.
