cheyletiella ?

how common are cheyletiella mites (aka- walking dandruff)
in cats, and also it transfering over to their owners?
i live in California, and Im having some weird reactions
after holding my cat or sitting where she sat.
where do cats pick these up from?contact with other cats?
need some info please.
