The Laboratory of Mitchell Sogin at the Marine Biological Laboratory would
like to introduce two web sites related to our research into the genomes
of amitochondriate, parasitic protists.
Giardia lamblia Genome Project (www.mbl.edu/Giardia)
As part of our ongoing effort to sequence the complete genome of
the early branching, amitochondriate eukaryote Giardia lamblia,
15000 edited single pass read sequences, totaling 13 MB of genomic
sequence, and associated BlastX annotation have been placed on the
web. Additional data releases will occur every two months.
Spraguea lophii Genome Survey (evol3.mbl.edu/Spraguea)
A pilot examination of gene diversity in the microsporidian
Spraguea lophii. 120 KB of genomic sequence is presented with
associated BlastX annotation of possible gene content.
