Molecular Parasitology Position at Yale University
The Medical Helminthology Laboratory at Yale University seeks an entry
level Research Assistant for work with parasitic nematodes. The Medical
Helminthology Laboratory is actively engaged in the development of a
vaccine for the prevention of hookworm disease, which infects over 1
billion people worldwide. The successful applicant will assist a senior
Research Scientist with molecular biological experiments investigating
the biology of these important organisms.
Major duties of this position will include:
- isolation of new vaccine antigens using PCR and library screening
- general molecular biological experiments (cloning, restriction
digests, gel electrophoresis)
- In vitro experiments with living parasites
- day-to-day operation and maintenance of a research laboratory,
including ordering supplies, record keeping, and safety
surveys
Applicants should have a B.S./B.A. in Molecular Biology, Biology, or a
related area, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Previous laboratory experience is preferred. Experience with parasites
is not required. Minimum starting wages for this position will be
$23,000 per year, plus an excellent benefits package.
