I am Detlev Goj from Ovamed company, Germany. We are developing Trichuris
suis eggs as a new medicinal product for treatment of autoimmune diseases.
Currently we are conducting a preclinical and pharmaceutical development
program guided by a comprehensive scientific advice from the european
regulatory authorities (EMEA).
The authorities asked us to implement a PCR-test to confirm the identity of
the eggs in production batches and exclude contaminations with foreign
eggs. We have now developed a test which is based on the amplification of
the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 sequence recently published for T.suis (Parasitol. Res.,
100, 383-389, 2007). Beside eggs of common porcine helminths we will need
eggs of the human whipworm T. trichiuara for validation of this assay
(specifically requested by the authorities!).
If there is someone who can provide us with biological samples
from T. trichiura (preferebly non-embryonated eggs)I would very much appreciate
to get contacted directly at my email address: gojd from ovamed.org
Many thanks in advance for your efforts!
with kind regards,
Detlev Goj - Ovamed GmbH
