TIBS is Trends in Biochemical Sciences -- any good University library is
likely to subscribe.
The non-appressed regions of the stroma lamellae are those regions of the
thylakoids that are not in contact with other lamellae. The thylakoids
membrane folds onto itself to make what are called "grana stacks" -- they
contain much of the PS II photosynthetic system (water oxidation complex.)
The non-appressed regions often contain more of the PS I photocomplex (the
second photosystem.)
