A Postdoctoral postion is available in our group at the University of
Pennsylvania, Plant Science Institute, effective immediately. The current work
is on the structure and function, assembly and regulation of the expression of
cytochrome complexes from photosynthetic bacteria, with an emphasis to use
molecular genetic and biochemical approaches to progress our understanding of
prokaryotic energy transducing membrane complexes as model systems for higher
organisms [for some of our recent work see EMBO Journal 12: 1283-1292 (1993);
Biochemistry 33: 723-733 (1994) and for a review, Journal of Bioenergetics and
Biomembranes 25: 195-209 (1993)].
The person suitable for this position should ideally have a solid background
either in molecular genetics/molecular biology and/or in biochemistry and
spectroscopy, and is interested to further our knowledge of microbial
photosynthetic and respiratory energy transduction. The salary will be
