Dear Photosynthesizers:
It is my pleasure to wish you all a very Happy New Year.Let 1996 bring
you happiness never seen before.Let 1996 be a great year of joy for you,
your colleagues, your family and even those you donot know.

I am writing these greetings from the wonderful city of Pasadena (home of
the Rose Bowl Parade). To me, it is a special place because we are able to
spend time with our grand-daughter Sunita-- her first New year.

I am sure everyone has a list of new things that took place in 1995. For
photosynthesizers, it was a great year because at Montpellier (France),
they created the "International Society for Photosynthesis Research"
(with Professor Wolfgang Junge as its President).

I cannot help myself, but to put a plug for the various books in
photosynthesis that are in press:1)Biophysical techniques in
Photosynthesis (vol. 3, Advances in Photosynthesis; edited by Amesz and
Hoff); 2) Light Reactions (vol.4, Advances in Photosynthesis; edited by
Ort and Yocum); and 3) Stress and Photosynthesis (vol.5,Advances in
Photosynhthesis; edited by Baker). They all will be available from Kluwer
Publishers in 1996.I am sure you have already enjoyed: 1)Molecular
Biology of Cyanobacteria (vol.1,Advances in Photosynthesis; edited by
Bryant),and 2) Anoxygenic Photosynthetic Bacteria (vol.2, Advances in
Photosynthesis; edited by Blankenship, Madigan and Bauer).
With many thanks for reading this message,
