We have used the LI-6400 extensively during the past two years (and
their 6200 system before that) on both small leaved (Picea) and long
needled (Pinus) conifers and have been consistently impressed with
both the instrument and its manufacturer. I givethe LI6400 high marks
for its flexibility and stability under field conditions.
If you have any specific questions I would be glad to attempt
addressing them by direct email.
A note to Pasquale Giorio: I have controlled high VPD by supplying a
humidity-enhanced air stream to the inlet port. In simple fashion
this can be accomplished by adding moist toweling to a buffer volume
from which air is drawn. I have also used the LI610 dewpoint
generator for precise control of VPD over ranging temperature (a
decidedly more expensive approach).
