THE ADVERTISEMENT

ARS is seeking a permanent, full-time Research Plant Pathologist, GS-12/13,
in the Vegetable Laboratory, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center,
Beltsville, Maryland. Salary is commensurate with experience: GS-12:
$45,939 - $59,725 and GS-13: $54,629 - $71,017 per annum plus benefits.
Incumbent will design and construct beneficial genes for genetic
transformation of vegetable crops, particularly potato and tomato. In
addition to basic educational requirements, applicants must demonstrate: 1.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and procedures of
molecular plant biology/pathology and plant physiology; 2. knowledge of
plant diseases especially those of horticultural crops; 3. ability to
conduct research projects and publish in areas of plant molecular
biology/molecular plant pathology; 4. skill in using molecular and
tissue/cell culture techniques (including gene cloning, DNA sequencing,
plant tissue culture and transformation etc.) in research; and 5. ability
to design, plan, and conduct studies with plants at the cellular and/or
molecular level.  Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or related field is desired.
