INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
ON
STRESS SYNERGISMS IN
PLANTS
Abiotic and Biotic Stress
in
Photosynthesis
TATA, HUNGARY, 23-26
AUGUST 1998
Organizing Committee: M. Bar=DBn (Granada, Spain), H. R.
Bolh=B7r-Nordenkampf (Vienna, Austria), M. Droppa (Budapest,
Hungary), G. Horv=B7th (Budapest, Hungary). Treasurer: Z. Szigeti
(Budapest, Hungary).
Scope of the meeting: The workshop will assemble scientists intereste=
d
in stress induced alterations of metabolic processes related
directly or indirectly to photosynthesis in plants and autotrophic
microorganisms. It will provide an excellent opportunity to exchange
ideas and to discuss results in more details concerning
responses of photosynthesis and plant productivity to various stress
factors. Besides of single stress effects, the action of combined
stress is planned to be a main issue.
Main topics of the meeting
- Alteration of physiological processes related to
photosynthesis by
various stress factors (e.g. heavy metal, ozone, extreme
temperature, pathogen infection, drought, light etc.)
- Stress synergisms affecting photosynthesis and plant
productivity
- responses at molecular and cellular levels
- responses at organ and whole plant levels
- responses at ecosystem level
- modeling of stress responses
- technics to detect stress in plants
Practical informations:
Location: Tata is situated in the midwest of Hungary about 60 kms fro=
m
Budapest. The meeting will be hosted in the well equipped
complex of the Training Camp of the Hungarian National Sport Teams
with numerous sporting and recreation facilities. Dates: Arrival
at Tata at lunch time on the 23rd of August, departure from Tata in
morning hours on the 26th of August. Fees: Participant US$
180, accompanying members US$ 120 (including transportation from to
Budapest, all meals and accommodation, reception, farewell
diner, excursion of accompanied persons and swimming facilities).
Accommodation will be arranged within the Training Camp based on
double occupancy. Application: The overall number of participants is
limited to 80.
Selection is made based on scientific activity of candidates
on
topics of the workshop.
Deadline of applications: 15th May, 1998
Fellowship: Limited number of fellowships for students and young
scientists are available on request. Application together wit=
