INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON
STRESS SYNERGISMS IN PLANTS
Abiotic and Biotic Stress in
Photosynthesis
TATA, HUNGARY, 23-26 AUGUST 1998
Organizing Committee: M. Baron (Granada, Spain), H. R. Bolhar-Nordenkampf
(Vienna, Austria), M. Droppa (Budapest, Hungary), G. Horvath (Budapest,
Hungary). Treasurer: Z. Szigeti (Budapest, Hungary).
Scope of the meeting: The workshop assembles scientists interested in stress
induced alterations of metabolic processes related directly or indirectly to
photosynthesis in plants and autotrophic microorganisms. It provides an
excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss detailed results
concerning the stress related responses affecting photosynthesis and plant
productivity. Besides the individual stress effects, the action mechanisms
of combined stress of the natural environment will be discussed.
Main topics of the meeting
- Alteration of physiological processes related to photosynthesis by various
stress factors (heavy metal, ozone, extreme temperature, pathogen
infection, drought, light etc.)
- Stress synergisms affecting photosynthesis and plant productivity
- molecular responses
- plant responses
- ecosystem responses
- modeling
Practical informations:
Location: Tata is situated in the midwest of Hungary about 60 kms from
Budapest. The meeting will be hosted in the well equipped complex of
the Training Camp of the Hungarian National Sport Teams with
numerous sporting and recreation facilities.
Dates: Arrival at Tata at lunch time on the 23rd of August, departure from
Tata in morning hours on the 26th of August.
Fees: Participant US$ 180, accompanying members US$ 120 (including
transportation from to Budapest, all meals and accommodation,
reception, farewell diner, excursion of accompanied persons and
swimming facilities).
Accommodation will be arranged within the Training Camp based on double
occupancy.
Application: The overall number of participants is limited to 80.
Selection is made based on scientific activity of candidates on
topics of the workshop.
Deadline of applications: 15th May, 1998
Fellowship: Limited number of fellowships for students and young scientists
are available on request. Application together with a short CV, list
of publications and a recommendation letter should be sent before
