                                               INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON
                                                STRESS SYNERGISMS IN PLANTS
                                            Abiotic and Biotic Stress in
Photosynthesis
                                            TATA, HUNGARY, 23-26 AUGUST 1998

Organizing Committee: M. Bar=DBn (Granada, Spain), H. R. Bolh=B7r-Nordenkamp=
f
(Vienna, Austria), M. Droppa (Budapest, Hungary), G. Horv=B7th (Budapest,
Hungary). Treasurer: Z. Szigeti (Budapest, Hungary).

Scope of the meeting: The workshop will assemble scientists interested in
stress induced alterations of metabolic processes related directly or
indirectly to photosynthesis in plants and autotrophic microorganisms. It
will provide an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and to discuss
results in more details concerning responses of photosynthesis and plant
productivity to various stress factors. Besides of single stress effects,
the action of combined stress is planned to be a main issue.

Main topics of the meeting
- Alteration of physiological processes related to photosynthesis by various
stress factors (e.g. heavy metal, ozone, extreme temperature, pathogen
infection, drought, light etc.)
- Stress synergisms affecting photosynthesis and plant productivity
        - responses at molecular and cellular levels
        - responses at organ and whole plant levels
        - responses at ecosystem level
        - modeling of stress responses
        - technics to detect stress in plants
