Dear Colleagues:
The National Research Initiative Competitive Grants program at the US
Department of Agriculture is searching for a Program Director for grants
administration in the area of plant physiology and plant biochemistry. I
presume that the Photosynthesis/Respiration and Nitrogen
Fixation/Metabolism grant programs or their successors will be administered
by this Program Director. As this person is expected to play a key role in
determining directions of funding by the National Research Initiative
(slated for a major increase in the next fiscal year), it is important to
have the Program Director position filled by a very competent scientist
with extensive expertise in our area. Details regarding the position can

in the latest issue of Science as well (probably the April 23 issue). US
citizenship is required for the position. The closing date is May 17, 1999.
