position is available in the laboratories of Prof. Bridgette Barry and
Prof. Robert Brooker at the University of Minnesota.&nbsp; The project
involves the study of the a transport protein, the lactose permease,
with reaction-induced FT-IR spectroscopy (Patzlaff, J. S., R. J.
Brooker, and B. A. Barry. 2000.<i> A reaction-induced Fourier
transform-infrared spectroscopic study of the lactose permease: a
transmembrane potential perturbs carboxylic acid residues. J. Biol.

isotope-editing will also be performed.&nbsp; The Barry laboratory is
equipped with two Nicolet FT-IR spectrometers and a new Bruker 66v
step scan/rapid scan FT-IR spectrometer, with time resolution in the
nanosecond time regime.&nbsp; The position is available immediately;
salary will depend on the amount of previous postdoctoral experience
