<x-flowed>Call for Proposals to Host the 14th International Congress on
Photosynthesis Research in 2007
The International Society of Photosynthesis Research (ISPR) seeks
proposals to host the 14th International Congress on Photosynthesis
Research, which will be held in 2007. The international
photosynthesis congresses are held every three years and cover all
aspects of research related to photosynthesis. This meeting is the
principal large international forum for presentation of the current
state of research into this essential biological process. The
congresses have typically drawn over 1,000 participants from around
the world. Information about past and upcoming congresses can be
found at the ISPR web site: http://www.photosynthesisresearch.org/.
The ISPR constitution specifies that the society shall endeavor to
have the meeting rotate among the three geographical areas: The
Americas, Europe, and the Rest of World. While proposals from all
geographical areas are welcome and will be given full consideration,
proposals from Europe are especially encouraged for the 2007 congress.
Proposals to host the 2007 congress must contain at a minimum the
following elements:
1) A local organizing team, including individuals identified as
Congress Chair, Local Arrangements Chair, Program Chair, Treasurer
and Information Technology Chair.
2) A specific proposed date and proposed site for the congress such
as a conference center, hotel or university. The site description
should include detailed information about the numbers and sizes of
lecture and exhibition halls, poster facilities and audio-visual
capabilities, as well as food service.
3) General information about the proposed program such as number of
plenary sessions, number of parallel sessions, discussion sessions
and public programs.
4) Information concerning support from the local and regional community.
5) Information about hotels and other accommodations, including
student housing. This information should include costs, numbers and
types of rooms available, distance from congress site and
transportation availability. Information on nearby airports and
intercity surface transportation, as well as local transportation
such as busses and subways should be provided.
6) A proposed budget, including detailed budgets for site expenses,
congress management, plans for fund raising and projected congress
fees.

papers, publication of abstract book and publication of proceedings.
