Dear Friends:
I am sad to inform you that Prasanna Mohanty, who was 79, is no more
with us. He died peacefully on March 9, 2013, in Cuttack, Odisha, India.
He was an eminent plant biologist, an authority on photosynthesis, a
great friend to enormous number of students and researchers around the
World, and a loving teacher to many. He had been ill for a year since he
suffered a stroke. He leaves behind his daughter who lives in
Australia. He was preceded in death by his wife Basanti. Prasanna had
obtained his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in
1972. His thesis can be downloaded from

important books in photosynthesis; wrote wonderful reviews, and had
authored a large number of research papers in top journals of the World.
A Tribute to Prasanna Mohanty (1934--2013) is planned for publication in
