On setting up a cheap growth room:
I have exactly the same situation as Susan - a small room without
temperature or humidity controls. What I've done is have heavy wall
standards mounted vertically on one wall. Horizontal brackets can then be
mounted and adjusted to any vertical height. These brackets are heavy duty,
and come out from the wall a good foot and a half or more. In my 8 foot
long room, I can get two 4' light banks, each bank holding 8 fluorescent
lamps. The banks are hooked up to a timer so they come on and off when I
want. I just accept the room temperature. You can increase humidity with
pans of water, you just can't decrease it. Usually, with heating and air
conditioning systems, decreaseing humidity is not the problem. This has
worked reasonably well for me.
