Joan,

Last year in my intro botany class, I had the students do embryo culture by
excising embryos for corn, tomato and apple seeds. Embryo culture is nice,
because you can see quick results (1-3 weeks depending on the materials
used) and need only basic MS medium in plates or tubes, and all it requires
is a trip to the grocery store. I also tried peanut embryos, because the
embryos are so easy to remove, but they took a lot longer to produces
plants, although they callused nicely, which is something else interesting
to discuss.

Good luck!
Tim
